It looks like there is a lot of interest about this one.
How many units does it take? |

The number of units is like everything in Botox. it depends on the patient and the patient's response to botox.
In general we start at 50 units of botox injected around the hairline. It can often escalate up to 80 units and sometimes 100 units. This gives the best results in terms of stopping sweat dripping down into your face. |

Thats about right.
I think I needed about 60 units with a small top up at the 2 week mark to make me totally bone dry around the face |

I didn't catch the whole extreme makeover program last night.
Did anyone see if they discussed botox stopping sweating of the face as well as the armpits? |

How long did it last for the face cosmo-toni?
Did you get the full 12 months? |

I haven't had it in for the full 12 months yet cindy.
But the botox did last all summer, my sweating has never been much of a problem in winter. I'm sure I'll only need an injection once a year just before summer. So it seems like it will definitely last the full 12 months |

Hi guys,
I saved up for botox for my underarm hyperhidrosis recently. It worked miracles! Its hard to describe the feeling. Its like a huge weight was lifted off my chest. I can go out now without worrying if there is a shower or a change of clothes handy. I had no idea botox could be used for facial sweating as well. Looks like I have to forgo my morning coffee as well this winter if I want to botox both my underarms and my face for sweating. Will me face still move if I botox it for sweating? |

Hi Gabby,
check back through this thread by posts by doctornev. Apparently to stop facial sweating you don't inject the face at all. You inject the scalp near the hairline. This means there should be no facial muscle immobilisation at all with botox for facial sweating. |

Hi DoctorNev,
Does having the botox injected into the hairline also help with sweating along the upper lip and chin? I experience my excessive sweating along the upper lip, forehead and chin area. Would you need to inject into the upper lip and chin also? Has anyone else botox for sweating on the lip and chin also? |

Hi jo,
Generally, the sweat you seem on the upper lip and chin is the sweat that has accumulated and run down into that part of the face. Very little of the sweat you see in that area actually "began" on the upper lip. The sweat gland distribution is quite interesting in this area. Most of the glands are concentrated along the hairline. I presume so the sweat can wash down and across the face to help cool the head and face. Cooling is the primary purpose of sweating after all. So in summary in my experience by greatly reducing the sweat that begins along the hairline you can effect a dramatic overall reduction in facial sweating - including the sweat that accumulates in unsightly areas such as the upper lip, sideburns and chin. To answer a previous persons post this also means there is little trouble with freezing the whole face. Some of the frontalis lines (forehead lines) are smoothed out but the rest of the face is completely unaffected. |
