Default Rhinoplasty alternative with Restylane

Hi everyone.

I've just read Dr.Grace's article. Very informative.

I have read in a few magazines that you can use restylane to straighten teh nose by flattening out the humps. Is this true? Wouldn't it just make the nose look bigger by adding even more volume to it?

It doesn't sound very likely. I just want to know what other people's opinion of this is because I've been flirting with the idea of a rhinoplasty to straighten out my nose since I've been about 14.

I've heard of people using fillers to straighten the nose. For $800 for the filler vs $15,000 for the rhinoplasty its at least worth giving it a go.

Has anyone heard of a dermatologist doing it in Calgary Alberta?

Default "Rhynoplasty" with fillers

$800 worth of fillers would last for maybe 4 months. A rhinoplasty would last a lifetime.

thought I would post a bit outside my own thread I've started up in the general forum and talk about something more glamarous than itchy bums!

I've been looking into fillers for my lines around my nose and mouth.

Doesn't restylane claim nine months? Wouldn't it last just as long in the nose?

From a purely economic point of view its way more affordable to pay $800 every nine months than try to pay $15000 once.

Default You can fix botched rhinoplasties with dermal fillers!
$800 worth of fillers would last for maybe 4 months. A rhinoplasty would last a lifetime.
Hi Sus I think you'll find the cost is far more favourable than that. For starters I never pay anymore than $650 tube (australian) for filler. My doctor only ever needs half a tube so she can put the rest into some fine lines around the face.

Dermal fillers especially ones like restylane or juvederm last 6-9 months. In my (sadly) extensive experience with fillers and botox I think the filler lasts a lot longer in areas where there is no movement. Its definitely still in my nose 12 months after been injected.

Whereas the filler in my nasolabial fold and cheeks was almost gone at 6 or 7 months.

I thnk juvederm, restylane or other fillers make an outstanding alternative to surgery. A good Doctor can make a huge difference in just a few injections. In fact I have one friend whose botched rhinoplasty was fixed by restylane injections! It looked fantastic after just a bit of restylane. It helped the restylane was complimentary too!

Now that is saying something if the plastic surgeons are using it to fix their own problems .

Default Fillers as rhinoplasty

Thanks for your insights, Botox_Queen. I know the other fillers last longer, but how long would restylene last in the nose? I've only had resty just once, lasted around 4 months, than I went with Aquamid.

Default Another vote against permanent fillers

You restylane only lasting 4 months is strange Sus.

And your rabid support of aquamid is even stranger. I have been to a lot of doctors and most of them are no longer using aquamid. Perhaps that is why you are only able to get aquamid with a nurse?

Restylane in my experience lasts at least 6 months. Even in the lips.Juvederm for slightly longer. I agree with botox queens assessment that in areas that don't move much it generally lasts longer. I would think 9-12 months to build up the nose is reasonable.

I'm really intrigued by this one golden pigeon. It sounds like a great alternarive to a rhinoplasty.

If nothing else at least you can see what your nose might look like before splashing out the big bucks on surgery

Do you have before and after photos of your nose?

Are you allowed to put photos over the forum or do you have to PM me?

Golden pigeon this one intrigues me. Have you had restylane or juvederm put into your nose? Did it really achieve a noticeable difference? Is it really a viable alternative to a rhinoplasty?
