Default Why is there such a big difference in laser hair removal prices?

The topic says it all.

I've trawled, I've googled, I've wikipedia'ed.

I know everything there is to know about laser hair removal and IPL hair removal.

What I don't understand is why there is such a big difference in price. I can get things ranging from $90 to teh whole back up to $600 for the back. Bikini's range from $50 per session to $2000 for a package of 5.

What gives? Why the huge difference?

Why does a Rolls Royce cost 10 times as much as a falcon?

Different machines are more and less expensive.

Doctors are worth a lot more per hour than nurses who are worth a lot more per hour than "laser technicians with diplomas" who are worth more than beauty therapists who want to increase the hourly productivity of their work!

You get what you pay for

Just to put the cat amongst the pigeons (sorry golden pigeon I couldn't resist!)

Do you think paying maybe 3 times as much really gets you a result 3 times better?

What is 3 times zero?

Its still zero.

Me and 3 friends had it done by a "medical grade IPL system" at the local day spa. Nothing happened after 3 sessions. They kept trying to sell us more, a bit like the "just one more syndrome."

We saved our money and moved on. I got a proper laser and the results after one session were far better than the three IPLs (which was basically no result) at the day spa

You can buy a DIY laser hair removal machine off ebay for $3000.

My doctor swears his machine cost 100K plus.

I bet this explains a lot of the price difference

Why price differences?

1. Cost of living in what area of the country you live in.

2. What hair removal laser the center is using, and if it's new or used.

3. The business overhead of the place your going to. If it's a new or newer place they have way more overhead usually and a new expensive lease on a laser machine where older places have there lasers paid off and much less overhead usually.

4. The experience of the practioner your going to use, more experience means higher prices just like in any business or service.

5. Competition in the area you live and getting the treatment in. More competition means lower prices usually.

6. If your in warm weather area of the country laser hair removal is much more popular, since it's basically year round summer there.

Hair is a natural part of a person's body.Laser hair removal is the use of laser energy to produce permanent hair reduction. The cost of this procedure costs anywhere from about $350 to $500 per visit, depending on your geographical area and who you choose to perform the removal.
