Sorry this is a bit off topic. But I couldn't find an Australian plastic surgery forum that's got decent activity and non-crazy recommendations! (seriously, some of the forum members are more gun-ho than the worst conspiracy theory forum fanatics!)
Just wanted to get an user's perspective on breast implants. Which surgeon did you go to? How long was the recovery time? Are they uncomfortable? Sillicon or Saline? Would you do it again? etc etc etc....
I'm - well - considering to consider it as a possibility...
Any experience/opinion would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Rollergirl if you are thinking of implants that is your decision.
But are you really sure you want them? Everyone here know's I'm pretty sceptical of of lot of the medical stuff. But at least it is temporary. After 4 months all the botox is gone.
But breast implants are permanent. You are committing yourself to a lifetime of new implants every 10 years or so. There's no going back. I've got a 55yo dear friend who tells me she wishes she could go back 12 years and tell her younger self not to be so vain. She doesn't want surgery again and now they look worse than if she hadn't of got surgery in the first place.

Hi Rollergirl,
Check your PM for 2 of my recommendations. There's been a recent announcement about not allowing mentioning doctors by name on the forums.
I can say I would only ever use a qualified plastic surgeon though. Not a cosmetic surgeon. Make sure you ask. There is a big difference.

Why do you suggest a plastic surgeon over a cosmetic surgeon? There's been quite a bit in the press lately about this.
I personally know several people who've been to a cosmetic surgeon and had outstanding results.
I think the plastic surgeons are just trying to protect their turf since they missed out on the whole 'cosmetic revolution'

I'm keen to get some info on the difference between a plastic surgeon and a cosmetic surgeon too. I saw that A current affair (or was it today tonight?) program too. IMHO it was the cosmetic surgeons that sounded defensive...

Personally - and everyone probably knows my opinion by now - I'd go with a plastic surgeon.
I've had this explained to me by a couple of docs (including my brother who's an Ortho). Plastic surgeons go through about 10 years of training in big hospitals after they graduate before they earn their title. They're the guys who can do the fancy things like facial reconstruction/complex face lifts. On the contrary any doctor straight out of medical school can call themselves a "cosmetic surgeon" if they have a special interest in the area.
I've seen breast implants done by both types of surgeons. And they actually all look great. But, from a safety point of view, it's just not worth taking any higher risks than you have to for "non-essential" surgery.

This question looks right for another poll! Jomol31? Starfish? YummyMummy do you want to start up a new poll thread on this?
I too vote for the plastic surgeons. They're more expensive so they have to be better :).
Any GP can call themselves a cosmetic doctor. A plastic surgeon has passed 2 big exams after medical school and done on average 13years after their degree training in a big hospital under supervision.

Thanks to *ahem* many a buck's night in girls club I've learnt to pick fake breasts from a mile away ... ok ok ... from the front row.
I really don't like the look. They are extra round and sort of hard looking.
Since my year full of buck's parties I've actually really gone off fake breasts. I don't think any girl should get them. I like individuality!

I have heard of a machine called BeautyTek that is supposed to give a 1-4cm breast lift in the first treatment but I cant find who has it. I have just submitted a post to ask if anyone knows anything about it.

Thats an interesting observation Mrgym. I think most women use implants to please themselves and maybe other women though, not men. However I also think men are attracted to the perkier look but don't always admit it. Is there another poll in this one too
nadine? :p
This is sort of from left field.
I got botox from my doctor last week. And he told me about a conference where the brazilian doctors are using botox to geta breast lift!
thats right a breast lift not brow lift.
Supposedly they paralyse the muscles beneath the breasts so that the muscles above it can pull unopposed.
Has anyone heard of this?

Sumi that sounds - unlikely.
I would have never thought it possible. Did your doctor believe in Botox for breast lifts?
