I really like the sound of this fraxel laser resurfacing.
Is it like other laser treatments and regards to tanning/darkness of skin? I'm greek so got that ethnic olive complexion and had to wait till winter and wear sunblock for 2 weeks before getting my hair removal done.
its going to be a lot harder to keep my face out of the sun than it was to keep my chest out of the sun.

None of the websites seem to say anything about which skin types are suitable for fraxel resurfacing.
only Doctors can do resufarcing so presumably its more onerous than laser hair removal/photorejuvenation.
I'm thinking of getting it myself and when I can finally get an appointment I'll let you know what my doctor said

It seems Fraxel is quite a bit less sensitive to darker skins compared to IPL hair removal or photorejuvenation.
Most of the websites I have looked up claim they can easily treat skin type 5.
I wonder if all the claims are true. Its like laser resurfacing without the pain, not sensitive to skin type and no down time.
I'm a bit dubious has anyone here had it?

I've had the old style CO2 resurfacing done and it is unbelievable. It really is like getting a whole new skin for your face.
I've finally managed to convince my sister to get the laser resurfacing done. She was a bit reluctant because she saw me at my worse (boiled red raw skin) the week after the procedure.
The problem is no one is doing the laser resurfacing anymore. They are only offering fractionated laser resurfacing. The doctors at least seem to think the results are comparible and aren't offering full resurfacing procedure anymore.
Annie is currently on her 2nd course and it is making a significant improvement so I'm hopeful it actually works. I'll keep everyone here informed on how her skin looks after she completes her full course of four.

Skin type is still relevent to fractionated laser resurfacing. With darker skin types being more difficult to treat than lighter skin types.
However, it is considerably less sensitive to skin type than is phtorejuvenation. Anything up to a skin type V (dark S.E. asian, subcontinental asian) can be treated. Skin type VI such as negroes are still difficult to treat.
In general anyone suitable for photorejuvenation or intense pulse light treatments are suitable for fractionated laser resurfacing.

I'm of a meditarrennean backgrount and my skin is fairly dark.
Quite a few laser hair removal doctors were very wary about lasering my legs.
Do I have to be similarly careful about getting fraxel for my face?
