OK at the risk of belabouring my point. But I really really hate it when people try to make themselves look androgogenous And yes I know I started up a mini-flamewar with my intro posting on this topic.

But I wanted to know whether laser hair removal can just achieve a hair reduction. I'm extra extra hairy around the chest and back. You can't see any skin beneath the hair its pretty stupid and really hot in summer.

I'm not interested in looking like some androgenous hairless pretend man. I just want to reduce the hair to normal type levels.

Can laser hair removal do this? I most definitely don't want the hairless look and would rather just continue on the way I am. But if my hair can be reduced down to levels like a normal man I would be very interested. Has anyone had any experience in just trying to reduce the hair by 40-70%?

Sorry about the long post but I wanted to be clear.

Yelp laser hair removal can definitely thing out your hair without permanently removing all of it.

Each treatment permanently destroys about 30% of you hairs.

In fact permanent hair removal is defined as 90% permanent hair "reduction." Which is why when you look at a logarithmic graph it takes 5-7 treatments to get to 90% hair loss.

Now my maths is a pretty crummy now but about 3 treatments should see you with about 50% hair loss. Some bright spark will post the exact answer of the number of treatments required to multiple decimal points though I'm sure

Boys, boys, boys ......

Are none of you capable of doing a search? There's been a ton of discussion on this topic. The short answer seems to be that laser hair removal will permanently thing your hair.

In fact permanent hair removal is defined by law as being a permanent "reduction of hair" of 90%.

So the more sessions you get done the more the hair gets reduced.

Just to spell it out for the cognitively challenged, testosterone pumped males here :) And that includes you Bruce the Robert ... metrosexual or not.

one treatment = reduction of 20-30%
two treatment = reduction of about 30-45%
three treatments = reduction of about 35-60%

etc etc Its a log scale thing so its a case of diminishing returns but even the boys here can extrapolate the gist of it.

I'ld be interested in this. I would like less hair on my legs but wouldn't want to be cyclist smooth.

It would have the added advantage of being a lot cheaper too.

Has anyone used it to reduce the density of hairs rather than just remove all of them? Does it work?

It sure does!

I think most guys get it to reduce the hairs in an area rather than trying to become baby smooth.

A certain amount of hair is expected of guys but no one wants to be a walking doormat impersonator

I was looking for as much hair removal as possible. Baby smooth would be best for me.

Its nice for BB competitions and means the waxing is far less painful or even unnecessary.

Having said that there was a clear reduction in hair after only 2-3 treatments. If you just wanted a reduction in density I think it would work fine at that stage.

I ended up getting 8 sessions but I was aiming for maximal hair loss over my whole body.

The popularity of laser hair removal has increasingly grown, prompting many laser manufacturers to conduct research and seek FDA clearance for their lasers for this indication.although laser treatments with these devices will permanently reduce the total number of body hairs, they will not result in a permanent removal of all hair.

Well, Most of us have probably heard a lot about the incredible results of Laser Hair Removal, however, laser technology represents more than just a means of permanent hair removal. There are a number of advantages skin care lasers offer over traditional hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, and depilatories, as well as other permanent treatments like electrolysis.
