Of course, you hear about cosmetic procedures being "addictive" all the time. But when it starts happening to your otherwise very normal co-worker it's a bit... strange I guess!

It all started with a bit of harmless botox 3 years ago. She loved it of course and got half of the girls at work to have it too! (I recently succumbed to peer pressure too - loving it but not sure if I can afford to continue it ongoingly) Then it was fillers. Her lips looked truly awesome to start with! But I think each time she goes back she asks the doctor to hit her harder (like that Goldie Hawn scene in the first wives club I imagine) so now they are just on the borderline of acceptable. They are HUGE!

And the latest addition. EE breasts! I'm talking she almost gave me black eyes! Scary... Maybe I should stop right here! I don't want to end up a total addict too!

Do you like chocolate?

Do you eat till you explode?

If you answer in the negative like 99% of the population then you'll be fine. Most of us have some self control

Hi babybear,

I can see it being quite addictive to some people. I definitely think its a good idea to stop under 18yo from getting any sort of cosmetic work done. Even something temporary like botox

Men!

Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Marge accidently gets the breast implants.

I agree with the original poster.

For some personality types I think cosmetic work can be very dangerous. It depends on your motives.

If you are the sort of person who has to have perfection and are getting cosmetic work done to achieve perfection then IMHO any sort of cometic work is dangerous. You neve achieve "perfection" the nose could always be a little bit cuter - but you need a bit of strength and definition too - and for my new hair style it would accent my cheeks more if ...... etc etc etc

On the other hand if you already feel good about yourself and just want a bit of a "boost" in your appearance. Then I say go for it.

The important thing is you must already be comfortable with your appearance and your self before you embark on something as potentially addictive as cosmetic work

Actually I was mostly worried about my wallet!

I'm the "just a bit of oomph would be nice" group (exercise once a week, eat reasonably, roughly size 10-12 etc etc). Definitely not obsessive.

But you get such a buzz from everyone telling you you look great (probably wondering what you did?) I don't think it'd be easy to wean yourself off.

Not an addict but, I'd say I have a very, very expensive hobby!

I agree with the other posters babybear.

I think it depends on the person. Done for the righ reasons cosmetic work isn't dangerous in teh slightest.

I agree with the consensus opinion.

With the wrong person even chocolate can be addictive.

hell people even got addicted to "Melrose Place" that inexcusable piece of dross ....
