Drnev and other posters,
At the time of my very first Botox treatment, three and a half years ago, I was also having IPL treatments. Laser work was done, a series of it, by a dermatologist and Botox administered by a GP/Cosmetic Dr. According to the dermatologist, one should have al the laser treatments first, then Botox. He believes, lasers dimihish the effects of Botox. Since then I've asked people in the profession, not one of them agreed with said dermatologist. What are the views, experiences of the wonderfully knowledgeable posters here?

P.S. Wow, drnev, I see this forum has a spellcheck! Fantastic! First time I see one on a forum. Well done!
Also in one of my previous post, the word "****" was starred out. I know it's similar, at least, in the first letter to a banned word, but that as not what I was posting.

I have never heard of getting all the laser first then botox either.

I hope doctornev gives his thoughts on the topic soon! *hint*

His Sus,

This is probably a very late reply.

But the overwhelming consensus is light based therapies, including lasers and IPLs, are complementary to Botox. There has been extensive discussion of this at conferences and in the literature.

If I were really stretching I would guess that perhaps a high powered laser or thermage type system "might" deactivate the Botox if done directly after injection of the Botox.

Botox is a purified protein and it is quite sensitive to high heats. I can think of no issues with doing a laser treatments and botox treatments separated by at least a day and in fact very commonly do this in my clinic.

Thank you for your insight, Dr Grace.

I would second what Dr.Grace is saying. Lasers and Botox are both complimentary. They work well together because both are non-invasive and in general both have very little downtime (with the exception of the rarely used CO2 complete laser resurfacing procedures).

This makes them naturally complimentary treatments.

Like Grace I prefer to shcedule the laser sessions either directly before the Botox or separated by a period of 1-7 days.
