I want to share a great experience I had with Botox injections in the area above my upper lip. I went to a clinic called ******** in *********. My sister had gone there recently to have ******* with Dr ********* and decided to get additional Botox injections as part of a "med-spa" package. Not only does she look great from the ********, but she has an amazing result from having Botox injected in the area between her nose and upper lip.
I decided to visit Dr. ******* while vacationing in ********, and I'm happy to report that I also got great results from Botox in my lip area! I actually have an upper lip and can use lip liner!
My sister and I suffer from the "chicken lip" syndrome, a.k.a., no lips! We both hate the look of fillers in the lips and have never understood the whole fish lipAngelina Jolie wannabe thing. So when it was suggested that I might be able to increase the volume in my upper lip ever so slightly with a small injection of Botox above the lip, I decided to try it. I felt very confident in Dr. ********* skills, based on my sister's results from her ********** procedure and the Botox injections. The results are awesome!
Not only did it smooth out some of the icky "smoker" lines above my lips, but also it pulled up the center of the upper lip just enough to actually have what Dr. ******** calls a "cupid's bow."
It seemed like a scary area to have Botox and it takes a very skilled and experienced doctor to apply the right amount, in exactly the right area. I have read so many awful stories about Botox parties, Botox in the shopping center, and even Botox shots while you're getting your hair done! Don't do it! Got to someone you know is good, based on credentials and other people's personal experiences and results.
I hope this is helpful.

And on a nicer note. Can botox really help the lip or was she just trolling?

I met a girl last year who told me she was getting botox in her chin to "relax" the look. The use of botox in the lower part of the face seems to be a bit more specialised. It would be good to hear a bit more about it. Maybe Dr Nev could comment?

I've had botox for the chin. Its to address the dimpling that occurs on the chin when you talk and smile. My doctor called it peau de orange supposedly because the chin looks like the skin of an orange.
It was a really nice addition. The really good thing was it was only an extra 4 units ($80) so its a really effective area just to put a smattering of botox.
I'ld love to hear dr nev's opinion on this too though. Is the lower face that much riskier than the upper face? When I first started I had a nurse inject me - before changing to a doctor. She refused to go below the cheekbones.

Hmmm just read over that.
It didn't make much sense.
The person who refused to inject below the cheekbones was the nurse. Not the doctor. She, the nurse, said it was too risky.
Need more sleep. Grammar getting bad.

Back on topic ...
Don't you think the original troll .. I mean poster ... was getting botox and restylane mixed up. Its the dermal fillers that give you the bigger lips right?

surely the original poster meant to say dermal fillers for fuller lips.
How can relaxing the muscles of the lips make them bigger?

No Heidi, I'm sure she meant to say botox, because she hates the look of fillers (thinks Jolie looks too fake).
I have heard this claim about the versatility of botox before, but not heard of anyone who is having botox injected in the lower face area here in Australia.
About 18 months ago when I had some forehead work done (with botox) while in Thailand, the surgeon told me he was going to a convention where cosmetic surgeons were talking about doing the botox facelift!! It seems it can be used a lot more broadly than we are used to in Australia.

Ha! I can one up that marakesh. I've heard of surgeons claiming they can do a breast lift!!!!!!!!!! with botox.
I don't believe it. But if you google it you will find some people thinking they can get a small amount of lift

Hi everyone,
Hopefully I can post a bit more frequently to help shed some light on some of the less well discussed uses of botox.
Botox has been used to help treat the lips. I think it is inaccurate to say it gives "fuller lips". When I use botox for the lips it is for one of two purposes. Primarily it can help soften the orbicularis oris to smooth out the fine rhytids (wrinkles) that form around the mouth when you lose the volume from this area.
The second use for botox in the mouth is it can help drop the lower lip just a touch when you smile. This is suitable for people who have a "gummy smile" and show teeth as well as gums when their upper lip retracts in a smile.
It should be noted that dermal fillers helps with both these problems, rhytids and gummy smiles, by adding revolumising the lip.
On the second matter from Starfish I have seen some reports/articles mostly from Brazil on using botox to help move the nipple of the breast. The theory is if you weaken the muscles that pull down on the nipple the ones that coutneract and pull up can operate with less opposition resulting in a "nipple lift." Suffice to say I remain unconvinced but their are some believers.
HI All,
Just found this site, first time reader and poster.
I have been having Botox injections for the past three and a half years. All over the face. Just beautiful. In the chin area, not only gets rid of orange skin, but shapes the chin as well. For smokers' lips, I get plenty six units each. Yes, unfortunately, I have dynamic muscles. Botox does not make thicker lips. Infact, the opposite! I've had aquamid in my lips, nice and full. Botox here is counteractive. It lowers top lip, thins it out somewhat. Although, not too thrilled about this, but will not stop Botox treatments there. My wonderful Dr also can shape the nose. My nose turns up a bit, thins out. Fantastic. Botox can be used all over the face, it is up to Dr if he/she dares, and has knowledge.

Botox is widely used for removing lips wrinkles. Many hoped that botox for lips will work the same miracles it did for wrinkles, while it cannot be used directly to create fuller lips, botox for lips works on the muscles around the lips adjusting its corners and thus, creating the much desired pout. The advantage of botox for lips is that it works quickly and without many side effects, whereas other products will produce side effects such as redness, rash, swelling before subsiding to the required size and shape.
