Stubble?

Hi, I'm thinking of having IPL all over my body, however i was just wondering if i did and say, ended up shaving my arms and then had a treatment, I'd obviously have some hair which will fall out but does that mean that I'll still be left with stubble which will remain short for a long period of time (since IPL slows down hair growth)? if so will it grow back to a reasonable length and look natural (since i don't mind if i have some hair on my arms)?
I do have thick black hair which i do want to go, but i don't want to have completely hairless arms, i just want most of it gone.

Hi zorba7,

My understanding in laser hair removal does not slow down hair growth at all.

It merely destroys the hair follicles in the growing phase (see www.kiora.com.au has a nice FAQ on this).

After my treatment virtually all of my hairs fell out after 2 weeks. They didn't take any longer to grow back. I definitely didn't have any prolonged "stubble" phase. It was itchy for about 2-3 weeks then it grew out. The hairs did grow back much thinner. It was most noticeable after the 2nd and 3rd treatments.

I found if anything laser hair removal helped with stubble regrowth rather than worsened it.

I got less stubble for a shorter period of time. I think this was because the hair was thinned out and the hairs that did eventually grow back were noticeably thinner and paler.

IMHO laser hair removal improves that itchy stubble state that occurs after shaving/waxing

that answers my question, i just thought that after having a treatment only some hairs woudl fall out (the one's that won't grow back) and the rest would stay (the one's that would continue to grow).. but i was wrong:P

I was a bit worried about the stubble too.

So did you find all the hairs fell out after the treatment? Was it unnecesary to wax 3 weeks later?

I've only just recently got my 2nd laser hair removal session 3 weeks ago.

So far stubble regrowth is not a problem. Its far less troublesome than when you shave or wax.

After both my treatments pretty much all the hairs fell out initially. After about 3 weeks it started growing back but thinner.

I'm really happy with the results and can see that after 5 more sessions the hair will be almost totally thinned out.
