Does the hair removed stay away FOREVER

I've been reading a lot of the USA websites on hair removal especially when this forum inexplicably quietened down.


A lot of the yanks are suggesting the hair may come back slowly and it shouldn't really be called "permanent hair removal." Is this the case?


Or is it just another example of the americans running scared from their lawyers and phrasing everything in as vague a terms as possible? :)

presumably thats why its called premanent hair removal.

On a serious note. I have read in a few places the hair might slowly grow back over years.

Which sort of laser hair removal causes increased growth. My big brother badly needs it for the top of his head, hairline etc etc :)

I've come across a few small studies claiming hair growth INCREASED in other areas.

It sure sounded strange and no one has a real explanation.


When you read the websites of the big names in laser hair removal very carefully you will see they avoid all mention of the word 'permanent.'


All of them talk about reduction of hair or 'long term reduction'.

It seems like the hair can slowly come back over many years time so the reputable places have all cut out the word 'permanent.'

The only places that have stopped using the words permanent hair removal are those that are sure thy are going to be still in business in 1 years time so an unhappy customer has someone they can actually try to get their money back from.


I'm a bit upset. A friend of mine got pressure talked into buying a package of 6 permanent hair removal sessions and the day spa was out of business the next month.

I told her to go to a doctor!!!!!!

My Doctor was at pains to say the hair removal was for a long time but not permanent in the strictest sense of the word. He's analogy was as people get older they start growing hair in new places. Which makes sense since my back is loads hairyer than when I was in high school. So although the laser sessions destroy the hairs your body might just decide to grow back hairs in that area over the coming years.

I of course asked him how long does the hair take to decide to come back. His answer was it depends on the patient (of course I can never get a straight answer out of any doctor). But he expects it to be years. Definitely longer than months or weeks.

NO NO NO! If ANYONE tells you laser hair removal will get rid of your unwanted body hair forever there lying, dumb or just ignorant and in all cases run away from them.

The ONLY hair removal treatment procedure that is FDA approved for "permanent removal" of hair is electrolysis with it's 125 plus year track record.

There are a few hair lasers like the LightSheer Diode Laser that are FDA approved but only for "permanent reduction". Sorry to break it you sweetie your hair will grow forever, but it can be greatly reduced some studies show 80-90% and also made to be very thin and light colored like fine peach fuzz.
