Hi all,
I've been sort of checking out botox prices everywhere for a while. I've got some crows which I swear have been there since I was 13! Can anyone tell me whether it's better to pay by 'area' or by 'unit'? Hmm... sounds like paying for alcohol per head or by consumption at a dinner function. Does paying by area give you a better deal?

HI AmberS. I just had my crow's feet done yesterday! I paid by unit. $20 a unit from my GP. I only got the crow's feet done. Not the frown. So it was only 28 units total. I'll let you know how it goes in the next few days

Hi Amber,
The amount of Botox needed for depends mostly on the muscle bulk - large muscles need larger doses. To a lesser degree it's influenced by how active those muscles are. For example, a patient with a very animated face, where the brows are perpetually locked in big frowns, may need a few units more.
If you decide to pay by "area", make sure you find out from the doctor how many units you are getting. This is important both for your record, and also for fine-tuning of the results should you decide to switch doctors. In our experience, the per area price some offer may sound attractive, but really what is quoted to you is based on a minimal/ sub-therapeutic dosage. Often, you could be paying a higher per unit price!
Hope this helps.
