I had a second treatment of lipodissolve on my saddlebags the other day. The first one worked great but I just wanted a little more reshaping. Anyway, the doctor didnt draw a line around the area where she put the needles and when I got home it appeared that she had gone further down my leg past my saddlebags and also further towards the front of my leg than I had asked. I don't think it is going to look great if she has done that. What I would like to know, either from a doctor or from someone who has also just had a treatment (or is having one soon) is if the bruising extends beyond the treated area, or if the injections at the edges would be smaller amounts of the active ingredient. If so, she may have done it as I asked (if the bruising extends beyond the area) or it may not be so bad - if she didnt inject much. :S I'm a little worried. If the bruising does extend beyond the area, how much further should it extend? Mine looks wrong by about an inch.

Hi again Araminta,
The bruising is caused by blood accumulating under the skin. It is not uncommon for the bruising to extend beyond the "treated" area as the blood can seep through the tissue layers.
We see this not infrequently.
Having said that it is possible your doctor hit a blood vessel. Does she use a mechnical pneumatic gun or does she hand inject? I only ask this because it is possible if hand injecting to go a little bit too deep and hit one of the smaller blood vessels. However, it would be practically impossible to hit one of the larger more dangerous arteries like they did in a recent unforunate liposuction case) so it shouldn't be dangerous.
Having said that if the brusing gets very large, or if you feel faint or unsually tired or sick you should see you GP or an emergency department straight away. All things are possible.

Thanks for your reply. I was actually worried about having too wide an area injected, rather than the level of bruising. The level of bruising is about normal I think. Would it normally bruise up to an inch outside of the area injected? I didn't have the lipodissolve at the Medical spa by the way.

We'll both eagerly await the docs reply.
But I've had bruising extend outside the area of injections before. Its a really small sample size of n=1 but its better than nothing

Thats correct Araminta. The bruising can on occassion extend outside the area treated. The blood which causes the brusing can track through various layers and sometimes extend the brusing. Hope this help
