What is medical spa

Can someone explain to me exactly what is a "medical spa." How does this differ from a medi-spa or a med-spa. I've done a quick google search but all I bring up are a bunch of USA sites.

We're about 5 years behind the USA I'd say in that area. When I visited my friends in L.A 2 years ago medical spas were already all the rage there and (of course!) we checked out one of them. Only had a facial though. I was on holidays and didn't feel like the heavy duty stuff!

To answer your question, in the States medicalspas are places that are really high-end where you can get facials/body treatments as well as the real medical stuff like botox and lasering. And they've brought in laws that require you to have a doctor to call yourself 'medical'. All the celebrities apparently go to them now - my friend ran into Halle Berry once at her favorite medical spa!! Not sure about medical spas here in Melbourne. Sydney might have some?
