Thats sounds very strange.
I've heard of it not working for the frown.
But 10 units for the crow's feet should always work.
Did you exercise in the first 24 hours?
Did you go to an experienced doctor?
Did you rub your face after the injection?
Are you sure its 24 horus later?
I would phone your doctor and explain the situation. If you can't see them in canada take a digital photo of you frowning and smilining(crow's feet) and email it to the doctor asking for your money back!
if he doesn't believe the date you could always get a photo of you frowning whilst holding a current copy of the washington post or something to prove you really are still frowning on the date you say you are! :)
It could be the doctor though. I had one friend get injected by an indian bollywood "star" dermatologist. She got a ptosis and the doctor couldn't even remember the difference between dilution and units. He didn't even know what a dilution was

hey thanks for taking the time to answer
my question. i rang my doctor on monday but she works at different clinics so she will email me. the only thing i did differently this time was hop on a plane and come to canada. my doctor is 100% professional, and i dont think she would be dodgy. i have seen her a few times before and have always been delighted with the results. soi this is why i am so comfused. i didnt exercise straight after, i have been a bit lazy lately :) and i am frearful of touching my face after she has injected for fear of getting the lazy eyes!!! so i guess all i can put it down to would be a dodgy batch of botox.. however the day she injected me she came straight from the operating theatre ( she assists in proceedures) and was a bit absent minded... like im only 29 with a slight furrow sthat basically i only notice so you think 20 units in my forehead should work..... oh well i guess ill just have to put up with it.. :( nicole

the best thing to do is to talk to your doctor. this way, both of you will find out who "missed" something.

Hey did you know that there is different kinds of botox? When i first did it it didnt work for me i had to increase the dosage to 500iu instead of 200iu and it worked alot better. Also there is some inferior generic botox products on the market make sure your getting what you pay for. If its under $200 than you need to go somewhere else, you get what you pay for.

Anita,
There appears to be quite a bit of wrong information mixed in with the reasonable information (eg some botox varieties are weaker). I checked the site your signature was advertising. Your signature had a link to a commercial site selling "botox" online. Obvisouly you are just trying to increase business for your site. You have been banned for 1 month.

If your botox isn't working make sure you doctor kept it refrigerated!
For a little while I got injected by a visiting doctor. To my horror after spending $800 there was absolutely no softening of the lines. I had completely full movement! I rang my doctor very angrily and when he looked carefully at everything realised all the patients he did that day had botox that was completely ineffective. He thinks he left his botox out in the warm for too long or his little esky in the car failed. The heat can deactivate the botox Maybe this is what happened

to the person who is not seeing resluts with her latest Botox treatment. First, I work for a dermatologist in the united states. I just received my first treatment on the glabella and looking forward to the results.
Secondly, there is some clinical information that in a few patinets who have received multiple treatments over time, the body can create antigens that cause the body to inhibit the botulinum toxin from thriving and working properly. Remember that the medication is actually derived from a toxin, and the body can sometimes try to get rid of it after repeated exposure, by way of the immune system. Hope this is not the case for you, but it has been seen and documented.
I would talk to my doctor, and make sure the next time you are treated, the doctor is using a brand-new vial from the freezer, and mixes it with the dilutent right then and there before your procedure. Good luck to you, and hope to hearthatyouhad a good result next time.

Hi jonibaloni,
I've seen some of this data as well. Most of the patients who started forming antibodies to the botox were people getting for non-cosmetic purposes in very high doses. Basically paediatric patients who were getting very high doses (hundreds of units) over an extended period of time. There is very little reported evidence of antibody formation to botox for cosmetic purposes.

mealia what happens when the immune system goes haywire and you form antibodies to the botox?

Mostly the Botox just stops working as effectively. The immune system deactivates the botox.
There have been some reports of some pretty non-specific effects like weakness and malaise but I think no one has connected that directly to the botox. ie they might just have had a cold at the same time
