I was until recently a botox virgin and just started. I love it hehehe.
But I wanted to know what the other forum members think. Do you get your botox before any movement returns so that your face always looks the same?
Or do you wait till some movement returns then get botox again?
The second option has the advantage of being cheaper but I am worried about repeatedly creasing my skins and causing my crow's feet to be permanent.
Just want to know people's opinions. I'm a nurse so money doesn't grow on trees but I do like looking good.

Hi Sally,
The first time I re-botoxed I waited till my "power frown" returned then got it done.
But nowadays I just can't stand the frown. I get my botox done religiously every 3 months to make sure no movement comes back. Your right it does cost a bit more but I I now know exactly how long my botox lasts before I need to get it done
I'm one to get it before any movement at all returns.
So its about 3 monthly for me. If I wasn't quite so concerned I could probably stretch it to 5 monthly

The answer is it depends on the patient! Typically there are 3 possibilities.
1. Religiously get botox about every 3 months before any movement whatsoever returns. This is particularly important for people in the public eye: newsreaders, models, actresses et al. It would be just too obvious if a person's features changed every quarter.
2. Wait for some movement to return, but before full power returns. This is a nice median position that is more cost effective than position one. It allows you to stretch out your botox for the maximal time of its effectiveness. Some people strtch it out to about 6 months. By this time all effects of the botox has totally worn off but for some people the botox breaks the habit of scowling/frowning etc. The people find since they haven't been able to frown for 4 months they tend to frown less often anyway.
3. Only get botox done before special occasions. The most cost effective. Makes it hard for us to titrate down the doses to the minimal effective does (thus been cheaper) but a very common position. Just make sure you get it done more than 10 days before a big event. So advanced planning is essential. Also note many other people think this way. So for example before christmas there can be a waiting time to get an appointment of up to a fortnight or more.

I tend to use a variation of 2 and 3.
Before a big event I always get botox a fortnight beforehand.
For the other times I get it once I notice the wrinkles. Usually five to six months apart

Before ANY movement returns.
I figure it works better to help prevent wrinkle lines forming in the first place too.
If your skin isn't been repetitively creased then wrinkles shouldn't form.
Thats what i figure anyway

I'm firmly in the get botox before any movement returns too.
I figure its much better for prevention of wrinkles if you aren't ever creasing the skin.

Hmmm there seems to be some variation here.
Any of the moderators want to start up a poll on when you should get botox done?

I'm jumping into this thread a bit late.
But I only get mine done for special occassions or when there's lots of rellies/friends I'm going to see soon.
Always christmas. And often before a big family wedding

I'm a believer in prevention.
I know my botox lasts 4 months maximum.
Like clockwork I book myself in at the 3 1/2 month mark. Sometimes there's a waiting period.
This also has the advanatage of your friends not noticiing wild swings in your appearance! From wrinkly prune to smooth and healthy every 5 or so months
