Hi everyone,

I had Botox (could have been Dysport) 9 days ago for crows-feet & have noticed that my cheekbone muscle on one side is depressed, has anyone else experienced this? After reading about it migrating with facial massage I wondered if the fact that I am instructed to put really firm pressure on the area to prevent bruising is contributing to this. I noticed that one of the doctors on this forum mentioned having some enzyme injected to reverse a lip filler & was wondering if something similar could also possibly be used for Botox migration i.e. my depressed cheek & how long it would be before I could have that side re-done?

Also, I would be sooo grateful if someone in Melbourne could recommend a good injector (for fillers also) as I have had this problem (cheekbone muscle depression) once before & also always seem to need a top up a week or two after each visit which I'm not sure is the norm - Botox-Queen?

Hi Kitty, lots of places offer to top up a few weeks later, that is normal. The really firm pressure you were asked to apply, I'm not so sure about.

Thanks for your reply Marakesh,

I have been doing some research & also have an appointment with Grace from Kiora later in the week to review my problems. I was after some comfort & also some seasoned advice from others on this forum who may have experienced similar problems, as I'm guessing that I may not be ultimately given a definitive answer (how long my eye & cheek will take to correct themselves) so was looking to calculate some sort of average time frame here. So far I have been able to determine that there are drops for the eyes that can be used for ptosis (upper eyelid droop) but am unsure whether this would be effective for a lower eyelid that is frozen (glass eye look) & a cheek depression. Also the predicted time for ptosis to correct itself seems to be between 2-4 weeks - I wonder if my problems would have a similar time frame (the lower eyelid looks the most obvious/strange). I am just concerned that it will take months to correct itself.

Thanks,
Kitty

Hi Kitty,

Sorry I've been away for awhile. This will only be a quick reply since you asked for me by name :)

But putting pressure on a botoxed area shouldn't really cause this.

I can't help but think your injector mightn't have injected a bit low. My doctor was at pains to warn me using botox for the lower face was quite a bit more risky than botox for the upper face. Maybe she injected a bit low?

Thankfully it has never happened to me but apparently the main risk is making the mouth lopsided.

Is this what has happened?

Hi botox_queen, thanks for your reply : )

I think you are probably right in as much as the skill of the injector is REALLY important. I also wonder if the use of Dysport is another contributing factor. Anyway, I now just have to wait untill it wears off : (

Do you (or anyone else) have any knowledge of experienced injectors (that use botox) in the Melbourne area? I'm in Glen Waverley. Otherwise I feel that my next go will be pot-luck as well. I understand that mistakes can be made & there may be numerous reasons for problems but I would feel stupid if I did not try to change some of the possible contributing factors. It's difficult to suss these things out, as even though I'm a beauty therapist - as discussed in other posts on this forum, Australian women(in general) are hard to talk to about these things.
