Hi there,
im a 23yr old asian female and have had previously had a facial shaping surgery, non invasive with botox to 'soften' my face.
you see, i have quite the dominant jaw line making my face look square which ive considered to look unatractive, but i was wondering how does botox actually do this?
my face has definitely softened, (and ive been advised not to chew gum anymore as it works the muscles in the face) and looks more attractive than before, but i wanted to know if i continue to get this done would it be bad for me?
and has anyone else had it done here in sydney?if so where and what was your experiences?
or any views and opinions on this topic would be great!!!

HI maggiet,
I'm not one of the people who have actually had this done. But it was discussed at some length recently.
They say the botox helps freeze the chewing muscles then over time because the muscles aren't working so hard they get smaller in size.
I wouldn't take this for gospel though. One of the veterens of the procedure will probably reply soon!

I have a korean friend who regularly goes back for her facial shaping botox.
Its totally changed her face. It happened pretty gradually so it never struck me as being a radical difference.
But she showed me a couple of before and after pictures when I started to suspect something was going on.
Wow. It was a huge difference when you got to compare the photos side by side

I have had 3 sessions for the botox injected into my masseters now.
I really love the technique it totally changed the profile of my face.
I had fairly large cheeks. After the 1st treatment I wasn't quite sure if I had wasted my money or not. I couldn't really see any difference in my face.
My doctor was quite diligent and persistent in making me come in for my followup shots 4 months down the track.
Wow! You really need the photos to tell the difference. I guess because it happens gradually you don't really see a difference yourself. But my face was completely different. I just couldn't help repeating "oh my god, oh my god" everytime I looked at my previous fat faced self :)
Needless to say I've been enthusiastically returning now. My doctor is being abit cagey about how long the face slimming effect will last. She says the Korean doctors quote 5 years but we haven't really been doing it long enough here in australia.
I minimise anything that requires heavy chewing. Apparently its the heavy chewing workout that caused my cheeks to get so big in the first place. So hopefully the effect will last the 5 years the koreans quote.
To tell the truth I really enjoy eating, its what got me into trouble in the first place, and I think I would just rather get the botox done semi-regularly to keep the face slim rather than subsist on a diet of soft noodles and soup.
This email has become very long and I apologise for that. I hope this helps some though

how many units did they need to use each time mighty mouth.
I find this use of botox completely intriguing. I would have never thought it could shrink muscles.
I wonder if that isn't the way it helps really bad wrinkles over the long term as well. The more botox I get the better it seems to work for the deep wrinkles. Maybe its shrinking the msucles that cause the wrinkles as well?
Would docnev or docgrace like to help out on this one?

Mighty mouth can you tell us.
Were your chewing muscles weakened? Can you actually chew. I've read about this quite a bit on the forum and kiora's faq and it seems you stop the muscle working so it atrophies.
The logical conclusion of this is it must be a lot slower and more difficult to use those muscles! Did you find this?
