Hi all
First of all, I am grateful to all of you for making this kind of forum, to help people like me. My skin is type 4 but my ethinc background is South East Asian, Olive color and acne prone, highly oily.
So, I started my treatment, last Nov 2006 currently on my 6th treatment, to start with I had problem on my chin and upper lip but decided to go for whole face, my first 3 sittings were fine...like rash for day or so and gone but after the 4th one it got bad, with acne and zits and scarring..I had clear face and acne here an there but this laser totally damaged my face. I dont know, what I should do ? I went to this laser hair salon who get around 25 to 20 patients, I had seen a person who went to same laser centre and has flawless skin but mine is all bad. I dont know the name of the laser she use, but before she do laser she shaves my face and put some gel and do the laser.
I have tried many topicals like proative, aloe vera striaght from plant, clyamadcin, differin..currently using, avon and I am sure there is few more. After looking at my **** please tell me what I should do ?
I am attaching the **** which has my ****.
Thanks for your help. look forward for some insight.

What sort of damage occurred to your face?
I've got quite dark skin too probably type 3. I was told by my doctor that even if I did get some types of pigmentation change they could use creams and even lasers to restore the evenness to my pigmentation.
I wonder if this would help you

Hmmm ignore that last statments. I just saw your **** link.
The acne looks pretty bad.
I can't really help a lot on this one.
You said on your **** that you have had acne your whole life. Since the acne got really bad only after the 4th session (and was presumably ok after the first 3 sessions) are you sure the laser hair removal was responsible for this outbreak?
Just a thought

I took a quizz at your ****.
Those pictures do look bad hopefulgirl.
Maybe you should see a dermatologist about the acne. My brother had pretty similar acne with really oily skin and the dermatologist prescribed him roacuttane and it pretty much cured him after 6 months.
Maybe this is what you are looking for. Afterall if you hav had acne for a long time maybe you are loking for a permanent cure.
I agree with elias too. The laser hair removal might have made it worse but I think there is a fair chance its unrelated.
My whole family, both brothers and sister get really bad acne.
Far worse than the pictures in your **** hopefulgirl!
WE all went on a course of roaccutane at about 15 years of age and it permanently cured us. WE'ld all tried various combinations of retin A, differin, antibiotics but the roaccutane worked miracles. I think its well worth the money to seek a referral to a dermatologist to see if you are suitable for this stuff.

Hi Hopeful girl - I feel for you.
I also have had a course of roaccutane in my life. It did solve the problem and has done for many others that I know.
However there are many side of effects of roaccutane. The main one is very very dry skin and lips. There is also a link to roaccutane and depression but I am not sure how far the reseach on that link has come. I remember there were some parents lobbying to have it banned, I am not saying don't take roaccutane but if you have ever suffered from depression where you required to take antidepressent I would do some research on rocacutane first. It is a very strong drug.
I still get some acne and to keep it under control I do the following: Take fish oil every day and usually have a small can a tuna every other day.
You will find Benzoyl peroxide is the active ingredient in most acne creams. It is what dries the skin out. You can get Benozyl peroxide on the chemist shelf it comes in different strengths and works well. It does stain clothes be careful.
I use a couple of other cream gel for everday from Clinque as well but I don't wnat to go on as I already have. I hope it gets better! oh and check that the laser is meant to be used on acne outbreaks i heard that it should be used when your skin is clear.
HI shellslegs,
I found the biggest problem with roaccutane was staying out of the sun. Whenever I ventured anywhere near sunlight I used to get burnt really easily.
Did you think this was a big problem?

HI shellslegs. I looked into roaccutane a lot.
The depression argument is a really interesting one.
Some of the psychologists argue the **** years are a very vulnerable time. And bad, severe acne can lead to depression and suicide. I read one article that stated depression caused by severe acne was one of the top 5 causes of suicide in teenagers.
This is often used as an excuse to treat them with the roaccutane stuff

Its almost like a chicken and egg argument misspiggy.
which one comes first.
The depression which is then triggered by the acne to becoming something worse (suicide)
Or the acne which triggers the depression which leads to suicide.
Hard to say which causses which

Hmmm thats interesting gantily.
I can see how one could draw an erronous conclusion its the roaccutane causing the depression/suicide.
Have other people on the forum noticed their mood changing whilst they've been on roaccutane?
